The 2017 NorCRID Annual Conference
Janis Cole and Eileen Forestal will be presenting on "Stronger together": An in depth look at working together as Deaf/hearing interpreting teams and strengthening ties in our community.
Participants will learn, discuss and practice working together as Deaf/hearing interpreting teams. As more Deaf interpreters are becoming trained and certified we will examine how the interpreting community can actively foster more inclusion of DI’s in the profession. Discussion will focus on ways to analyze and advocate the need for a DI, the ethical implications of having a DI in a variety of situations, embracing each other’s strengths and working as teammates to achieve the best possible language and cultural access.
In addition, on Friday night a panel of Deaf interpreters and consumers will give their perspectives on how the community can grow and become stronger together.
